Udupi: The local minister, Dr. V.S. Acharya stated in Katpadi near here, on Sunday that his Govt. had released Rs 45 crores as grant, to construct several mini-vented dams and bridge all over the coastal 300Km. region under the Coastal Development Authority headed by former minister B.Nagaraj Shetty.
He laid the foundation stone for a new fish market on scientific lines, at Katpadi under the aegis of C.DA and NF DA, Hyderabad.
The informed that fish market would be, as in Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, in our 3 district.
The Katpadi market would cost Rs 70 lakhs, and in Udupi town, around Rs 2 crores.
B.N. Shetty made introductory remarks to say that CDA would construct 10 fish markets at a cost of Rs 11 crores. He named the places and expenditures on them.
The markets at Padubidri, Kinnigoli and Bantwal are in progress, and the work would take 18 months. He told. Kaup MLA Lalaji R. Mendon presided. Local elected.
Representatives and officials were present. Baby Salian of Fish sellers’ Association was chief Guest.
