Mangalore: A lot of hullabaloo is going on since some of the staff members in “108 Emergency Ambulance” Van services have gone on an indefinite strike.
But the DK District DC NSC Gowda, has arranged for 19 vans to render urgent services, without any failure in the process of un avoidable medical care.
9 of these vans are rendering regular services as usual. 5 more are coming today to attend duties. Another 4 would be arriving by Saturday evening Gowda stated.
Treated as one of the essential services not to be suspended, the ‘108 van’ staff who joined the strike recently, are seriously considered for being absent on duty and might face legal prosecution. They will be taken to task for their negligence, the DC stated. He added that about 16 drivers temporarily look after Ambulance duties on urgent basis.
Various mobile phone services are maintained in’108’ vans run by the drivers and these are available with Director of Health Department, said District Health & Family Welfare department officials.
