Moodabidre: thousands of invites, special guests and visitors from all over the state like Bellary, Bangalore, North Karnataka and olds Mysore areas came to Vidyagiri on Sunday here to take part on concluding day sessions from morning till evening in 10 separate pandals And stages erected to celebrate the 10th year combined world Kannada language, Heritage festival that began on Dec.19 with a colorful and massive procession of dignitaries, artistes, Dancers and Kannada people from all over Karnataka.
Programs of Janapada (folk arts) and cultural events were gone through in 10 different areas on stages by the students and other experienced persons knowing music, dance, Harikatha, children’s activities, modern singing and music etc. in front of large audiences who absorbed every bit of it. Free food was serving to all. Hundreds of volunteers and home guards maintained order, while people moved about freely without any incident or a clash dignitaries arrived in cars and were received with great affection, honour and taken to the main stage behind the front building. Vidyagiri consists of at least 10 to 25 multistoried buildings to house a college, a hostel, a department, a canteen, an auditorium and such other officers that work all the working during day time.
There was a Krishi Mela (agricultural fair) and an exhibition of various historic materials collected by Dr. Alva and even presented as a show in Dharmasthala earlier on occasions.
One of the main things in over 12 sections that were arranged during the Fair was about Janapada literature and heritage presided over by none other than Dr. B.A Vivek Rai, who honored several folk artists in singing, acting, reciting, yakshagana and humor or such other rolls.
Dr. H.P. Upadhyaya who made an extremely excellent discourse, spoke about how Janapada had influenced Dr. Alva from the beginning till the end of his 10 Nudisiri/Virasat festivals that he organized in the last 10 years, especially in 2013. Without folk arts he described Tulu arts could not have taken wings and fly in the large sky of the costal western belt.
In the Krishi Mela a procession was organized from the Virasat venue with the music and dance with huge dolls and resounding drums to grow through the streets of Moodabidre to attract local people and invite them for the evening’s valedictory function. The dignitaries of the evening final session included besides the 10000 invitees or guest at the pen doll, Dharmadhikari Dr. D. Veerendra
Hegde of Dharmasthala, Dr. M. Veerappa Moily union minister for petro chemicals and Natural Gas, Dr. B A Vivek Rai an exponent of Janapada in Tulu and Kannada, long term achievers in poetry paintings music, Journalism and such other walks of life such as Dr. H S Venkatesh Murthy, D K Chouta and several others.
Dr. M Mohan Alva the main spirit behind the 4 day Kannada Language/heritage fair in Vidyagiri of Moodabidre in his addressed to the distinguished audience and his critics called upon them to bare with any office and the local people’s mistakes, or excess, and not to criticize them or him in Press or electronic media or in public meetings cheaply, has thousands have worked for day and night to perfect all the programs related to the current 4 day show of language, Culture and historic heritage of Karnataka. He remained his cities that this was not a Tulu show or a Tulu program of Sahitya Academy of a state language that has spread to Arabia and other Muslim countries, through Akka in American countries and Kannada Sanghas all over India with a common history dating back to 3000 years or more. He explained that the organizers including him had no egos or commercializing intentions of culture and traditions, but they had a love for Kannada in a brother hood of west coast life portrayed by a large number of buildings that you see all over Vidyagiri in Moodabidre.
There was a heavy rush for buses and vehicles in the late evening on Dec.22 the concluding day.
