Bangalore :The newly re-elected AICC president Sonia Gandhi has appointed Dr. G. Parameshwara, Koratagere MLA, as the new president of KPCC, giving rise to the hopes of new team in KPCC office in charge, led by a Dalit.
The party’s fortunes have been on the wane in recent years, especially after and before ‘Bellary Chalo’ walk from Bangalore to Bellary to prevent illegal mining and illicit wealth. Congress did not do well in recent panchayat polls from GP to ZP. There was misuse of Flood Relief funds in KPCC office under the outgoing chief R.V. Deshpande, and widespread discussions in view of Operation Lotus by BJP to wean away Congress legislators.
The new KPCC chief is a non-controversial party worker, young and has a clean image. He can reach all leaders in state and at the Centre, to build the Congress party in Karnataka.
Dr. G.P will be a great asset to the Leader of Opposition, Sidddaramaiah, in the Assembly too. He has the energy to command the cadres and inspire them in all parts of the state, Siddu has admitted. Dr. G P also heads the Siddartha Group of educational institutions in Tumkur which has a university. There is a lot of optimism that Dr. G.P will take the state Congress Party with all leaders and followers forward.
The new team is yet to be formed and formally announced during this week.
