Udupi : The Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake Speaking, after chairing the KDP review meet here on Friday, said that 119 acres of government land has been identified in Udupi district to offer to the homeless needy, as many as 690 beneficiaries have been identified, of which 180 will be provided the title deeds within three months.
He added that the beneficiaries under Section 94C of Land Reforms Act, are directed to apply through Atalji Janasnehi Kendra to get the title deeds for the government land, they have illegally encroached.
He said additional counters would be set up in all the three taluks, owing to hectic work pressure undertaken in Atalji Janasnehi Kendra.
He said as many as 1642 beneficiaries were given land in the past 10 years.
However, no one has come forward to take the title deeds, following which, notices are served and if they fail to respond, the lands will be transferred to other beneficiaries.
Briefing over setting up of additional ration shops in the villages in the ratio 1:300 families, the minister said currently there is one ration shop for 500 families.
He added that the ration shops would be kept open for the entire day from first to 10th of each month.
Action will be taken against the ration shopkeepers who violate the norms.
The minister added that meeting was held in Bangalore with the Forest and Irrigation ministers to discuss over the deemed forest area disrupting the Varahi project.
He said a decision is taken to clear off eight hectares of land to construct tunnel up to 35 kilometers. He said the tunnel work is almost complete.
He added that around 150 beneficiaries will be given the first phase of financial assistance under Basava Vasati Yojane. He said as many as 1367 beneficiaries are facing problems, as they are not receiving funds in various stages.
The officials from Rajiv Gandhi Vasati Nigam are contacted to solve the issue.
The minister added that measures would be taken to introduce KSRTC buses in rural areas, to assist the students who are pursuing their education in cities.
He added a meeting is held under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police over increasing number of accidents taking place on national highway.
Police are directed to keep a check over the violation of traffic norms, he added.
Stating that nearly 90 per cent funds under Nagarrotthana scheme have been allotted, he said that multi village drinking water scheme has been introduced in some of the villages.
Measures will be taken to provide water for Saligrama, Kota and Sasthana through Kavadi river.
Elaborate plans are chalked out to ensure water and underground drainage facilities in Kaup, Uliyargoli and Mallar, besides salt water problems will be solved.
He said, as the district was unable to reach that target of Rs six crore under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme workshops would been organized in all the three taluks to create awareness over the scheme.
The district could utilize only Rs four crore. Measures are taken to tackle monsoon related natural calamities.
The minister added that as many as 8.40 lakh books and 65000 uniform sets are distributed.
The minister said that Kollur controversy over the cremation of the seer Vimalananda Swamiji would be sorted out after analyzing the fact based report submitted by the temple CEO.
It is a sensitive issue, he said and added that the case relating to the irregularities and illegal transaction of 23 crore by the chairman of Mandya Urban Development Authority is handed to CBI and investigation is on.
He said he is unaware over the role of minister Ambareesh in connection with the flats, he is said to have allotted for himself.
He said that indepth multi departmental inquiry is ordered into illegal resort construction in Henguvalli village. Survey is underway, he added.
SP Boralingaiah said that one of the accused named Santhosh has been arrested in connection with the assault on the seer and other people who were transporting the cattle to Kerala with license.
Some 10-15 members are involved, he added.
