Mangalore : 12 stolen idols from the Mudabidri Jaina Basadi on July 6th this year were recover by the city police commissioners office in Mangalore by Courier weighing 750 grams in all on Tuesday Nov 5th. The local police refused to give more details. Being probably astonished to receive these idols of great antiquity at the city police station.
The artefacts were sent from a courier office in Raipur in Chatishgad state near Madhyapradesh, informed Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar in a press meet held soon after( 6th November).
3 more idols had been melted in to gold bricks by the four accused person’s arrested by the police, related to the total number of idols involved in the case.
The Jain Swamiji of Mudbidre as identified all this idols as stolen from Mudabidre Jain temple earlier.
Doubts are still lingering in public minds about the actual number of idol stolen as on July 6th This year.
ACP Ravi Kumar, investigating officer, Ananth Padmanabha Moodbidri police inspector, PSI Ramesh Kumar and others police officers were present at the Commissioner’s office, when the Jain swamiji examined the idols.
