Mangalore: The education system should provide the knowledge, skills and talents of the respective areas. This makes it possible for local and global factors to be emphasized in the textbooks, said Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof.P Subrahmanya Yadapadittaya said.
Speaking after releasing 12 text books published by the Mangalore University Prasaranga for the second, fourth semester students, at the Syndicate Hall on Thursday, he added that textbooks were formed with the joint effort of Kannada faculty, study board, editors, Prasaranga and Mangalore University administration.
Mangalore University Registrar Prof. Kishor Kumat C K said that publishing 12 Kannada textbooks simultaneously is an achievement. Prasaranga Director Prof. Abhay Kumar, Kannada Study Board President Prof. Somanna, Prasaranga Associate Director Dr. Dhananjaya Kumble and Executive Editor of the textbooks Dr. Madhava Moodukonaje were present.
‘Kala Gangotri’, ‘Vidya Gangotri’, ‘Ganaka Gangotri’, ‘Nirvahana Gangotri’, Vaanijya Gangotri’, textbooks for optional literature, and ‘Nudisalu’ and ‘Nudinota’ for the fourth semester were among the released books. Arrangements have been done for the sale from Thursday itself.
