Mangalore : The DK district administration in association with DK Zilla Panchayath celebrated the 120th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar at Town Hall on April 14, Thursday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, District in charge minister Krishna J Palemar said that Ambedkar’s generation was not like the present generation. Earlier the people used to change their ideas, if they were orally convinced. But now the situation is not the same.
Whole world is praising India for making such a wonderful constitution. Although various amendments have been implemented, the constitution has not lost its image and is given importance as a new, he said.
The future generation must adopt the principles of Dr B R Ambedkar in their life and must further celebrate the birth anniversary yearly as marked the 120th birth anniversary, he added.
Main speaker Dr M Kumara Swamy, assistant lecture of Mangalore University said that, Dr Ambedkar was not the person who only worked for the welfare of backward class, but he was the one who worked for the harassed class of people.
He said that Dr Ambedkar’s principles were discussed among the large number of people. People celebrate his every birth anniversary to the statue located in many parts of the country. He also said that because of some people the principles of Dr Bhim Rao is losing its values.
MLA UT Khader said that the people of various religions may consider Bhagavad Gita, Quran and Bible as their sacred book but when it comes to the sacred book of the country it is only Constitution, he said.
