Mangaluru : The district administration, Zilla panchayat, Mangalore City Corporation and Social welfare department jointly celebrated the 124th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar at Netravathi Auditorium in Zilla Panchayath office here on April 14, Tuesday.

District incharge minister B. Ramanath Rai inaugurated the programme and said the stand of Ambedkar that everyone should be guaranteed a life of self respect, is relevant to this day.

Ambedkar Bhavan, is progressing inspite of some legal hurdles. After clearances of all Judiciary matter Ambedkar Bhavan will be constructed on the land specified, he said.

Angara, Sundari Prakash, Lakshman, Balakrishna Kathalsar, Uthamkumar and Korpolu the achievers in various fields were honoured.

Five autorickshaws, four omni vans and three goods vehicles were given to SC/ST communities Beneficiaries by Ambedkar Development Corporation, ITDP and fisheries department .

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel spoke on the occasion.

MLA J.R Lobo, DC A.B Ibrahim and others were present.
