Belthangady: The Belthangady police on Wednesday arrested 14 Bangladeshis for their alleged illegal stay at a construction site.

According to a press note, these 14 allegedly entered the country without passport and VISA.

These 14 persons were brought by Nissar Ahmed, a resident of Moobidri, to work at a construction site two months ago.

The police gave the names of accused as Mohammed Jahangir (26), Abdul Hakeem (25), Mohammed Alangeer (27), Abdul Haleem (19), S.D. Mohammed Azizullah (19), S.D. Babu (20), Joharul Islam (24), Mohammed Sohidul Islam (30), Mohammed Iqbal Ali (19), Mohammed Sohail Rana (19), Joharul Islam (35), Mohammed Suman Ali (24), Mohammed Momin (20) and Mohammed Fulal (19). The police have also arrested Nissar Ahmed.

The police have registered a case under The Foreigners Act 1946.

Nissar Ahmed has been booked under Section 370 (a) (human trafficking) of the Indian Penal Code.
