Beltangady : A total of 142 couples tied a nuptial knot at ‘Godhooli Lagnam’ on the 43rd customary annual mass marriage ceremony organized under the aegis of Dharmasthala Shree Manjunatheshwara Temple at Dharmasthala on May 2, Friday.
Participating as the chief guest, State minister for Sports and Youth affiars K Abhaychandra Jain advised the couple to lead a cultured and happy life.
B L Shankar, former speaker of state legislative council said that the mass marriage concept had made the people to discard the caste and religious differences among the people in the society and make them to lead a harmonious relationship.
He also said that compared to the individual expensive marriage, the mass marriage, which are held free of cost and in a simple way help society to achieve revolutionary.
He also urged the Mutts and temples, to guide the society to encourage such kind of marriages will enable people of the society live in peace and harmony.
Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade, said that the mass marriages are not conducted for fun, but making them a way to understand their responsibility and lead a meaningful life.
Former minister Govind Karjol and MLA Vasant Bangera expressed best wishes to the participants.
The organization presented groom with dhoti and shawl, while bride was given sari, blouse piece, and Mangala Sootra.
Hemavathi V Heggade, D Harshendra Kumar, and Shraddha Amit, were present.
