Mangalore: Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary(Jayanthi) took place at the Centenary Building (named after him) auditorium of Sri Ramakrishna Mission on Thursday,12th January 2012, celebrated also as National Youth day in city by 17th National Youth Festival, attended by over 3500 delegates from 35 regions/states of India for the first time here in Coastal Karnataka.
A documentary on the daring Swamiji and talks on his revitalization of Hinduism under British Raj, were conducted. Konkodi Padmanabha Bhat of CAMPCO, a co-operative giant, inaugurated the day celebrations.
Orator V. Nagaraja spoke about Vivekananda’s great patriotism, and his attempts to create a new world order led by the land of statue of Liberty, America.
The speaker lauded the ebullient young Swamiji’s heroism and courage, and his great learning on Various Scriptures.
Vivekananada sought nothing in return for his tremendous services to Hindu values, and fight for freedom. He was an inspiration to succeeding generations.
Swami Jithakamananda, local Ramakrishna Mutt chief, and many College students participated in the deliberations.
