Mangalore : The 17th Independence Cup Football Tournament organized by Dakshina Kannada District Football Association (DKDFA) affiliated to Karnataka State Football Association (KSFA) will be held at Nehru Maidan Football Ground on July 20, Saturday at 9.30 a.m.

Addressing the reporters at the Press Club on July 18, Thursday, D M Aslam association president said that 27-day tournament will be inaugurated by Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Abhaychandra Jain.

The tournament will be held in six categories including higher primary school (boys and girls), high school (boys and girls), P.U. College (boys) and professional colleges (boys).

Around 200 teams from all categories have registered for the tournament and the final match in all categories will be held on August 15.

The last date for the registration of teams from P.U. and professional colleges is July 26.

DKDFA joint secretary Yuvaraj Bengre, KSFA member Vijaya Suvarna and treasurer Anil P V were present.
