Mangaluru : A 18 year old engineering student of the Srinivas Institute of Technology at Valachil has hanged her self in the hostel room on June 1.

The deceased has been identified as Suchethana A C (18), daughter of Chandre Gowda hails from Chikkamagaluru.

It is said, Suchethana went to her house in Chikkamagaluru on May 27 and had returned to her hostel on Thursday morning.  When her room mates noticed, she hanged herself with her shawl.

Though the reason behind the extreme step is not known, She had finished her exams recently and had failed in computer science subject.

A suicide note found her hostel room.

Mangaluru Rural police are investigating the case.
