Mangalore : A school students meet was organised by Yuvajana Sangha and Veera Vinayaka Seva Trust at the Akshaya Hall in Bokkapatna on Thursday noon, to conduct the annual distribution ceremony for the 18th year of the school Uniforms, midday meals, and talents awards to winners of various schools.
S. Bhalachandra Kamath, civil Contractor, inaugurated the meeting by lighting a lamp.
310 students of 5 schools around the place were presented with school uniforms. Selected high class and talented students of SSLC and PUC were awarded prizes. Medical help and monetary benefits were provided to poor and sick children at the same occasion.
Deputy Mayor Rajendra Kumar who presided over the function, recalled the exemplary simple life of erudite scholar of Bengal, Ishwarachandra Vidyasagar and his childhood events, and asked the students to come forward in public life after a strong education. None of them should lag behind in life, he added. Kumar lauded the Yuvajana Sangh, which had earned fame and popularity over the years, from the surrounding people in view of its desire to encourage every child in school life to march forward steadily in the locality.
Prakash V. Karkera of Tilaknagar, and Jivan Talwar, both of Bolur in city, were chief guests on the dais.
Tukaram Bangera, Yuvajana Sangh president, welcomed the gathering. Prakash N. Karkera of Veera Vinayaka Janaseva Trust thanked the people.
