Mangalore: The management committee of Lord Venkataramana Temple at Shri Kshetra Gurupura and the Shri Varadarj Venkatramana Kshetrabhivruddhi Samithi has jointly renovated the golden peeta on which the presiding deity Lord Venkataramana stands.
The temple management had decided to renovate the golden peeta of the deity as part of the 60th anniversary of the temple renovation. Ninety years back, a golden throne, a golden peeta, and a prabhavali were offered to Lord Venktaramana, an event that gained historical significance as the first time any devotee had offered a golden throne to a deity in the undivided DK district.
The peeta prabhavali has been renovated using 2.5kgs of gold. Another 1kg of gold has been used to make puja items and utensils that go with the gold. Ajay Nayak, the CEO of Swarna Jewellers, who took up this project for the temple said that 9kgs of silver has also been used to make this peeta prabhavali and the accompanying utensils and puja items.
Shri Sayameendra Teertha Swamiji, the chief disciple of Shri Sudheendra Teertha Swamiji of Kashi Mutt will offer the renovated peeta to the presiding deity at a religious ceremony.
