Mangalore : Two persons arrested in Bhubaneshwar, by the Mangalore police with the help of Odisha police, with regard to the theft of ancient and precious idols from Siddantha Mandir Guru Basadi at Moodbidri, are expected to be brought to the district for further interrogation.
The two have already been produced before a court in Bhubaneshwar and were subject to medical tests later on.
The police had earlier during a raid on the residence of Santosh Das alias Ganshyam Das, a class IV employee in the urban development department of the Government of Orissa, had arrested his father- in-law Kirtimoyee Mohanty and another person named Digambar Mohanty.
Police had also recovered idols, gold, cash and ATM cards from the house. However, Santosh Das is missing and is suspected to have fled to some neighbouring state. He it is said had once been arrested by Andhra police and was wanted in several cases of theft of idols and smuggling of idols to Nepal.
