Mangalore: The 200th birth anniversary of Dr. Herman Moegling (1811 – 1881), a German missionary from Basel Mission, was observed by Karnataka Christian Education Society (KACES) at the Bishop Jathanna Auditorium, Balmatta on Oct 28, Friday.
The presence of Dr. Moegling’s descendants Monika Landgraf, Peter Landgraf, Wilfried Landgraf, and Jorn Ponader, who came from Germany to attend the event was the specialty.
Rev. Sandeep Theophil and Dr. D. R. Sadananda, the treasurer of KACES, welcomed the gathering.
Chief Guest of the event Dr. B. M. Hegde, the former vice chancellor of MAHE, inaugurated the event.
Later he released a German book “Eine Reise in Die Religionen” and its English translation “A Journey Into Religions”.
Dr. Honey Cabral presided over the event, Dr. Hegde felicitated all the German guests, and Rev. Theophil delivered the vote of thanks.
Many well-wishers in from Germany, Rudiger Klan, Christina Schmidt, Christa Klan, Peter-Jens Kaundinya, Sabine Schrieber, Ursula Kaundinya, Cordelia Hohwald, Wolfgang Hohwald, Inge Heckelmann, Ulrich Heckelmann, Madeleine Wirth, and Magdalene Weichel were also present.
