Mangalore: The MUDA chairman S. Ramesh, has clarified that a house could be built on any site or land of 2 cents within MUDA limits, if it has 3 feet contact with a footpath, under Building regulations 12.3 and 29.2.
From September1, 2009 a revised Great Plan no.2 for Mangalore Urban Development is in force, he pointed out. No further revisions are made since June 2011, say Congress leaders, but on 10-11-2011 a new amendment has been added to the rules, to allow house building on as small as 2 cents of land. Congressmen should not mislead people, he cautioned.
The Mangalore citizens can directly approach the MUDA to solve their problems, and clear their doubts if any, he said.
Referring to Hampankatta bus stand, he observed that it was demolished decades ago. Certain plans are afoot since 4 years there, to utilise the area that is available for other purposes, so MUDA is active, he explained.
