Mangalore : The two-day Dakshina Kannada district level Police Sports Meet-2010, which was concluded by awarding the Mangalore Subdivision with overall championship on Jan 12, Wednesday at police grounds.
The event organized various games and competitions separately for men and women joint auspices of the Dakshina Kannada district police and Mangalore city police.
Speaking on the occasion Inspector General of Police (Western Range) Alok Mohan said that the sports meet will be held to reduce the mental stress of police officials who are burdened with the responsibility to maintain law and order and controlling crime round the clock.
The officials from District Armed Reserve Police, Mangalore Subdivision, Panambur Subdivision, Puttur Sub Division and Women Police actively participated in running race, relay, discuss throw, javelin throw, long jump, high jump, hammer throw, triple jump, tug-of-war, marathon event, cricket match, shuttle badminton, slow motorcycle race, shooting, shot-put, fancy dress competitions etc and received the cash prizes who participated in the sports as an individual and team.
Radhakrishna from DAR, and Shrikala emerged individual champions under men and women category respectively.
Mangalore City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Sing, Superintendent of Police Dr A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, Dy SP R Ramesh were present.
