Udupi:A two-day Krishi Mela will be held at Brahmavar on October 8 and 9 under the auspices of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Brahmavar and Mangalore, BABARD, Mangalore, Department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Watershed Department, Animal Husbandry, Sericulture Fisheries and Forestry Udupi, SKDRDP, Udupi District Krishik Samaja of Udupi and Mangalore, under the sponsorship of Directorate of Cashew and Cocoa Development Cochin, Canara Bank, Syndicate Bank and Vijaya Rural Development Foundation, Mangalore
This was informed by Dr Hanumanthappa Associate Director of Research Centre at a press meet here on October 4, Thursday. He said the main objective of this Mela is to sensitize the farmers on the latest agricultural technology through demonstrations, debates and field visits and interaction with scientists and farmers.
The Mela will be inaugurated by the State Minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary, while Dr K Narayana Gowda, Vice-Chancellor, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, will preside. The new administrative building of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra will be declared open by MP K Jayaprakash Hegde.
There will be seminars on “Cashew Cultivation and Mixed Cropping System in Horticulture” of the Coastal zone “Profitable Dairy Farming and Subsidy Enterprises”, and “Mechanization in Paddy and Marketing Opportunities” as part of the festival.
