Mangalore : ‘Veerarani Abbakka Decennial Celebration- 2013’ organized by Veerarani Abbakka Utsava Samithi in association with Karnataka Government will be held at Ullal Bharat High School premises on February 9-10.

Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Jan 14, Monday K Jayaram Shetty, president of reception committee said that ‘Veerarani Abbakka Award’ will be conferred on renowned Kannada- Tulu  literature Jayanthi S Bangera and renowned folk artiste Kargi Shedthi will honoured with ‘Ranirani Abbakka Puraskar’.

He said that the felicitators are selected by the Samithi consisting of Dr Amrutha Someshwar, U T Khader, K Jayaram Shetty, Fr Denis D’Sa, Umanath A Kotian, Prof A V Navada, Dr Vamana Nandavar, Dinakar Ullal and Bhaskar Rai Kukkuvalli.

He also said Karnataka Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar will confer the both the award and Puraskar to the recipients, which comprises of Rs 15,000 cash, memento and a citation at the valedictory ceremony to be held on Feb 10.
