The ship was seized by pirates 15 miles off Gentil Port on July 15, Monday. The vessel is owned by a Turkish company.
Shivaram, the father-in-law of Vasanth said the company has informed them that the Turkish ambassador has intervened to settle the issue. It is learnt Vasanth’s wife Priya is grief stricken and is refusing to take food.
Vasanth Kumar who set off from Mumbai two weeks ago, had called that they were proceeding towards Africa and will be in touch with the family once the ship reached its destination. He has a daughter and a son.
