Bangalore : Two more children’s films in the state will be entitled to a special grant of Rs 25 lakh each from this year itself, as against the existing policy of awarding grants to only two children’s films every year, said Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda.
Speaking at the State film awards presentation ceremony for the year 2009-2010 held at the Jnanajyothi hall of Central College here on May 15, Tuesday, the Chief Minister said the state government would also be considering extending subsidy to 100 feature films henceforth. He was responding to the demand placed by the film industry to provide subsidy to more number of films as against the subsidy granted to 75 films every year at present.
The CM Also assured to commence works on film city “ Chitra Nagari” near Hesaraghatta in the outskirts of the city at the earliest.
The Dr Rajkumar Award was presented on the occasion to actor RN Sudashan. CV Shivashanker and SD Ankalagi were conferred with the Puttanna Kanagal Award and Dr Vishnuvardhan Award respectively.
‘Rasarushi Kuvempu’ received the best feature film award while Ritwik Simha received the best director award. Shabari received the award for the film having a social impact. ‘Kinnara Bale’ bagged the Best children’s film and PH Vishwanath, the Best Children’s Film Director. Anu Prabhaker received the Best Actress Award.
