Mangalore : Two persons from the district lost their lives after they were hit by trains at different places in DK on April 24, Wednesday.

In the first case, one Jayaram Gowda (55) from Navoor in Kaniyoor  was killed when he was hit by a train while he was crossing the track at Eladka  between Kaniyoor and Yedamangala at around 8 am. The deceased  is survived by his wife and two sons. The head was separated from the body due to the impact of the collision.

In another case, P Sesappa Poojari from Bondel was killed when he was run over by a train between Ullal and Kolya. It is not known why  Poojari who said he would read newspapers and come had headed towards Ullal. The cell phone found near the body helped in identifying the body.

Railway police have registered  both the cases.
