Udupi :  In a tragic incident reported from Sooda-Nandalike, two women labourers lost their lives  in a blast  near a quarry  on June 19, Tuesday.

The incident took place  at around 3.30 pm in the quarry  run by Joy Crusher Stones. The mishap occurred in a shed where explosives were placed, when the two labourers arrived there for rest in the afternoon. The deceased have been identified as  Ambike (24)and Mallavva(36) both hailing from Uttara Kannada district.

The quarry owner Joy, the manager and other staff of the quarry have been booked. Senior police officials , MLA Gopal Bhandari and  Tahsildar visited the spot.
