Mangalore: Two young bike riders were killed when their two-wheeler was hit by a speeding Chevrolet car driven by drunken doctors in the wee hours of February 17, Sunday.

The mishap took place at around 12.30 am when Yogish(27) and Jayaprakash (23) were on way home from Suratkal where they had some work. As Jayaprakash stopped his bike near the petrol bunk so that he could drop Yogish, the speeding car knocked them down fatally. It is learnt the car was driven by a young man and woman and that before the car hit the bike, it had rammed against a compound wall.

The two persons in the car have fled the scene of the accident abandoning the car. The duo in the bike breathed t heir last on the road as it was too late by the time anyone could notice them in the dead of the night.

Yogish was the son of Chandrahas and Sunitha of Moodushedde, while Jayaprakash was the son of Somappa Nayak and Neelamma of Veerakamba, Kalladka.

Kavoor police have seized the car. A case has been registered.
