Mangalore : The Childline, social activists and the Konaje police have been successful in rescuing a two year old child from a quarry area at Pajir in Bantwal. It is learnt that the child was meant for trafficking. It was found alone in a hut in the area.
The child could be rescued on the basis of revelations made by the three persons already arrested on the charges of child trafficking on Friday. The arrests were possible with the help of Childline, social activist Vidya Dinker and the police department. Lenita and Jossie, a couple and Rangavva, a quarry worker hailing from Badami were arrested. The police had then rescued Rangavva’s three month old child. During interrogation it came to light that Rangavva had a two year old child and she intended to sell it off too. The police found the child in a hut at Pajir. It is learnt, the child had been admitted to a nearby Anganavadi and it’s mother name was stated as Geetha in records.
Investigations are underway.
