Mangalore : The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Rosario parish organized its 38th mass marriage ceremony in Rosario Cathedral on May 6 Sunday, during which 22 couples tied the knot.
The chief celebrant of the Holy Mass was Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, with Fr. Stany Goveas, the parish priest of Rosario parish, and several other clergymen concelebrating.
The chief guests of the reception, held on the grounds of Rosario Cathedral after the marriage ceremony, were George Pinto, the Karnataka superintendent of excise, DK, and Rosaline Pinto.
In his address, Mr. Pinto urged the couples to practice forgiveness, faith, and love in their married life and to treat each other with respect.
Ronald Colaco, the NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist, was also present on this occasion. He spoke on the importance of sharing, giving, understanding, communication, and so on in married life. He also congratulated the organizers of the mass marriage ceremony and said that the newly weds were lucky to be married in the historical cathedral.
Among the dignitaries on the dais were Herald Monteiro, the vice president of the central council of St. Vincent de Paul Society; Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza; Fr. Stany Goveas; Joachim Monteiro, the president of St. Vincent de Paul Society; Philomena Lobo, its secretary, and many others.
Each newly wed couple was gifted an FD of Rs. 4000 and Rs. 3000 cash.
