Ambala: A 22-year-old student of a government college was murdered outside the institution’s campus on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Kewal Singh, a postgraduate student hailing from Jatwar village near Ambala Cantonment.
Kewal was on his way to attend his class when some youths asked him to come out of the college. As soon as he stepped out, he was attacked with with sharp-edged weapons.
In order to save himself, Kewal ran towards the market area but was again attacked. He sustained multiple injuries and fell unconscious. The assailants fled from the spot.
Students present there took him to a private nursing home which referred him to the civil hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead.
“The reason for the attack is still unknown but police are on look out for the assailants and will nab them soon,” Ambala’s DCP Rural Paveen Mehta said.
The deceased’s mother Sukhwinder Kaur said her son never had any dispute with anyone and was soft-spoken. Kewal’s father is employed in a central government undertaking at Chandigarh.
