Mysuru : 22nd National Deaf Chess Championship was inaugurated on the 8TH of January by a host of dignitaries. The Inauguration function was presided by Nagaraj V Bairi –District Governor of Lions Club, Najundaswamy – President of Lions Club, Murty S- Proprietor of the venue, Suresh Kumar- Chief Secretary of India Deaf Sports Association, V Kumar- Chief Secretary of Karnataka Deaf Association, Nagendra Murlidhar – Vice-president UKCA ,J V Mahesh Verma and B R Madusoodan Rao.
It is a 5 day event being held at Rahul Convention Hall where 210 players from 21 states are taking part. The tournament is being conducted by Mysore District Deaf Association on behalf of ALL INDIA SPORTS COUNCIL OF DEAF and KARNATAKA SPORTS FEDERATION OF THE DEAF in association with Mysore Chess Centre. There are 57 female players from different states participating in the prestigious event.
Ashish K Desai representing Gujarat with an ELO Rating of 1965 is the top seed and followed by M Sivaraj from Tamilnadu and G Palani from Karnataka. The tournament has 22 players who hold international ELO Rating.
Splendid arrangements of food, accommodation and playing venue are made for the players to ensure they have a wonderful experience throughout the five day event.
The tournament has 9 rounds. Round 1 was conducted and concluded today and these are the results of the same.
