Udupi: DSP, Dr. Ravikumar today(January 21) morning inaugurated at Brahmagiri in the Lions’ Bhawan, the 23rd Road Safety week organised by Udupi district administration, local transport department, police and Lions jointly. The theme of the national observance for the week was, “Accidents bring tears, Safety brings cheers”.
In his address, Dr.Y.S. Ravikumar asked everyone to take a pledge to reduce accidents on roads, by following traffic rules strictly, while driving vehicles carefully. A public awareness on road safety is required to bring down tragic road mishaps drastically, he stressed.
Only safety measures strictly followed can prevent unwanted road accidents, he declared.
District 324 D4 Lions Governor Jayakar Shetty Indrali presided over the function.
Dr. Sudha of KMC transfusion medicine department, Lion Sridhar Shenava, programme co-ordinator, Lion Nandakishore(Road Safety Programme Co-ordinator), Indu R. Bhat(Udupi Lions), and RTO H.N. Ramesh were present in the gathering.
