Udupi : After allegations that police had given special treatment to the accused in the NRI businessman Bhaskar Shetty murder case, superintendent of police Sanjeev Patil on Monday ordered a preliminary inquiry.
He said, “As per the report submitted by DySP Udupi, there was dereliction in escort duty by our staff. Pending departmental inquiry, three staff members – Sudhakar, Armed Reserve Sub-Inspector (ARSI), Renuka, Woman Police Constable, and Salman Khan Civil Police Constable (CPC) – were suspended with immediate effect.”
All three accused in the case, Rajeshwari, wife of Bhaskar Shetty, her son Navaneeth Shetty and Niranjan Bhat are in Mangaluru jail. It’s alleged they came to the Udupi court in their own luxury car for the last hearing.
