Mangalore: Under Fr Swebert D’Silva(Principal)’s chairmanship, the academic council of autonomous St. Aloysius’ College on Tuesday decided to request the Mangalore University to grant 3 more post-graduate programmes to be started from 2012-13(next academic year). These are M.Sc, in Physics, in food and nutritious science, and in Chemistry.
There are already 14 PG programmes with SAC. The council also resolved to introduce choice-based credit system from 2011-12, this year. Dr. A.M. Narahari, registrar, and Fr. Francis Almeida, secretary wee present.
The council approved 462 PG degree holders and 872 under graduate degree-holders for next convocation of Mangalore University. It was informed that the Biotechnology and Biochemistry departments of the college were approved as Research Centres by Mangalore University.
