Mangaluru : DK police have arrested three natives of Tamil Nadu on charges of peddling in ganja on Tuesday. Based on a tip-off that the trio are on their way to Karkala in Udupi district to sell ganja, a team, led by Bantwal DSP Raveesh C R and District Crime Intelligence Bureau Police Inspector Amanulla and his staff, nabbed them near KSRTC bus stand at Dharmasthala and recovered two bags from their possession.
Superintendent of police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase said police recovered 10 packets of ganja, each weighing 2 kg from the possession of Chandrakumar, Shanthakumar and Tamil Selvi, residents of Gudalur in Nilgiri district of Tamil Nadu. The accused told the police that they had sourced the ganja from Vijayawada and were taking it to Karkala via Tamil Nadu. Police also seized three cell phones, Rs 1,100 in cash and ganja valued at Rs 4 lakh from them.
Appreciating the timely detection, SP also announced a reward to the police personnel concerned.
