Mangalore: 3 Large war tankers, moving on NH66 (former NH17) at sensitive Thokkottu Pumpwell, drew stares of the people passing around, on Monday.
The T-72 war weapons had been exhibited at the Indian Army Mela (Meet), held recently (Dec 8 to 10) at Cannanore (Kannur), in Kerala.
Defence minister and Keralite, A.K. Anthony, took part in this event. The tankers were shown to the public to create new awareness in case of a war.
The Tankers were on way to Hyderabad, after the Mela. Each tanker had 2 soldiers in it. The 3 Tankers passed through Kasaragod and Mangalore, towards Bangalore and then finally to Hyderabad in Andhra.
The Army personnel were seen cooking their meals on Kerosene stoves. The local (curious) people got in touch with them.
The soldiers then informed that they wanted to cook their own meals as the Army did not provide what they liked to eat. They added that these war tankers were only for display in a show.
