Mangalore: As 9 bank unions with a membership of 10 lakhs bank employees struck work today on a national scale 300 bank men in Mangalore also joined them to demonstrate in front of Canara bank Balmatta on Wednesday morning.
In Udupi the UFBU members showed their might by gathering in front of Syndicate bank head office in Manipal and shouted slogans demanding revised and increased monthly salaries for all bank employees today.
The UFBU in a statement issued today stated that it had forwarded a fresh charter of demands to the central Govt. seeking what it wants on the expiry of the last accord that expired on October 31, 2012.
The UFBU leaders said in a statement that they had rejected outright a mere raise of 5% emoluments offered by IBA and the central Govt. in Mumbai on Dec. 14 this year.
