Mangaluru: State Excise Minister H Y Meti has informed that totally 342 cases have been registered in connection with selling liquor at petty shop near educational institutions in 2015-2016 year.
“Some of the bars and wine shops are opening the door before the scheduled time. Cases have been registered against such bars owners,” he said.
He was answering to a question asked by MLC Ivan D’Souza about the opening of bars before the scheduled time.
Further Minister said that 35 cases have been registered for converting wine shop as bar by holding wine shop license. Excise department officials are taking strict action on those owners who are breaking the rules.
Rs 1,35,47,000 revenue collected
10,051 new licenses have been renewed. In the year 2015-16 Rs 1,17,80,000 has been collected as revenue from 1178 CL-5 licenses for marriage functions and other celebrations. Additional license charge Rs 17,67,000 is also collected from the same, he informed.
