Mangaluru: 35 Mangalorean youths who are stuck in Kuwait following a viral video of them seeking help from Indian authorities to return to their hometown.
In the video, the youths are heard saying that a city-based placement agency Manikya Associates had duped each of them of Rs 65,000 with the promise of offering a lucrative job in a firm called Carriage located in Kuwait. Only after arriving here on an employment visa did they realize that they would be working for some other firm.
“We have not received wages for 6 months now, moreover the company has said that they would stop providing us food also from now onwards,” says a youth in the video message. As many as 200 Indians are in the same Flight of which 35 are from Mnagaluru, they said and sought political leaders to help them.
Upon coming to know of the situation, Vedavyas Kamath assured help to ensure that the boys return to their hometown at the earliest and said that he would have a friend of his to meet the youths and collect the requisite documents from them.
As per the latest update, Raj Bhandary, a friend of Vedavyas Kamath met the youths and collected all documents required to get the boys back at the earliest. Kamath also spoke to the youths via video call.
Further he mentioned that he has spoken to authorities concerned and will arrange for the boys to return safely at the earliest. He added that he has spoken to the government to urge the Kuwait authorities to take action against the guilty parties.
