Belthangadi: Padmabhushan Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar of Pune, who has disciples in China, UK and the Western Countries today, inaugurated the 36th national Yogasanas Championship in the holy land of Dharmasthala on Tuesday at Amrita Varshini auditorium, in the presence of Dharmadhikari Dr.Veerendra Heggade.The scholarly 93 years old Yoga teacher Iyengar mentioned that Yoga cleansed the inner body by control of breath, and postures made as per rules.
He referred to Acharya Patanjali who stated that art of living includes non-violence, celibacy, truth and non-accept once of evil things, and if these rules are not practised, a person kills himself. Yoga aims high at 3 levels of body, mind and soul by abstinence. It is in force in India since over 4 millennia (years). Sages made it a living medium to develop lifestyles.In his presidential speech, Dr. D.V. Heggade said that Yoga should be taught to every student in schools. Several yoga experts and administrators were present. 800 contestants from 25 states are in the ring of attention.
Harshendra Kumar welcomed, Karnataka Yoga Secretary G.N. Krishnamurthy thanked the gathering. The final session is due on Dec 3, 2011.
