Mangalore: A free eye camp organized by the Sri Bhoothanatheshwara Temple, Badaga Edyapadavu in association with KS Hegde Medical Academy, Derlakatte, was held at Edapadavu on Independence Day.
A total of 375 people benefitted from the camp. Of them 46 were identified for surgery at KSHEMA. Free spectacles will also be provided for 240 villagers.
The team of doctors that conducted the eye camp was led by Dr Jayaram Shetty.This is the second eye camp to be conducted at the temple.
Earlier, the national tricolor was unfurled outside the Temple. Vijaynath Shetty, Chief Co-ordinator of the temple, his mother Smt. Premalatha Shetty, Advocate Udayakumar Shetty, Sports Instructor Premnath Shetty and Temple Co-ordinator Kanthappa Shetty were among those present on the occasion.
“Teppangai,” a traditional sport involving clashing of coconuts, was also played by enthusiasts on the occasion.
