Mangaluru : A team of personnel from the Department of Food and Civil Supplies, led by Assistant Director Sunanda, seized nearly 50 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, allegedly stocked illegally near Kudumbi Garden, off the busy Falnir Road.
Ms. Sunanda said, the raid was conducted after the residents complained that illegal sale of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders was going on for sometime. When the official team visited the place, several domestic LPG cylinders were found off the road. A few cylinders were in a vehicle.
These cylinders had the seal of Bharat Petroleum and there was nobody to protect the cylinders. Ms. Sunanda said, they had seized 40 domestic and 12 commercial LPG cylinders. Only four of the 52 cylinders were empty.
Meanwhile, BPCL officials would be questioned about the seized cylinders, she said.
