Mangalore : The silver jubilee convocation and awards ceremony of Pierre Fauchard Academy (India Section) was held at Hotel Ocean Pearl on Dec 17 Saturday.
A total of 43 new fellows were inducted into the academy and honoured them with certificate and medal.
The chief guest Prof. Dibyendu Mazumder, the president of the Dental Council of India, said that the country’s population is 120 crore, hence more number of dentists are required. Today the dentists are not serving the rural people and the poor people are deprived from the medical facilities.
He said that every student is a living sign of a good teacher. There is no end of learning in the field of medical, he added.
Guest of honor N. V. Hegde, the chancellor of NITTE University, said that as far as gaining knowledge, professionals think that gaining knowledge is limited at the college level.
He also said that, in today’s professional life, unless they are best there is no place. Hence minimal educational standards ar maintained across the world.
The toppers of various universities at the BDS undergraduate level were rewarded on the occasion.
