Mangalore : Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, the dharmadhikari of Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala, inaugurates the 45-day Karavali Utsav and exhibition on Dec 22, Wednesday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, he said that respecting and following the religious aspects and culture has been adapted from the blood of Indians, but still we identify ourselves differently.
Earlier the Portuguese entered our country and captured coastal region but the people of the district welcomed them and followed their way of work and achievement, but did not change fully and protected our culture.
At present five banks of the district have been nationalized and we must be proud of their effort.
The present government has encouraged the art and culture of the state and district. The district has seen various developments in the field of culture, art, education, agriculture and others.
Heggade also requested the general public to maintain peace and be patience during their visit to the exhibition and allowed the families to move freely. He also wished the exhibition to continue with grand success.
The main entrance of Karavali Utsav resembled the historically significant and ancient Guttu House. The highlight of this fun fair will be the replica of the Guttu House, illustrating the rich culture and tradition of coastal Karnataka, and an exhibition of rare traditional and old household items.
The fair comprised of hundreds of food courts, stalls, modern amusements, and other points of attraction.
Various cultural programmes were held as part of the exhibition. The dance performance from the students of Sanathana Natylaya attracted the audience.
Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao, Prabhakar Sharma, the additional deputy commissioner of the district, Prabhulinga Kavalakatti, Assistant commissioner, Mayor Rajani Dugganna, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, the president of the Kannada Sahithya Parishad, District incharge minister Krsihna J Palemar, MLA Yogesh Bhat.
Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav presided over the event. Zilla Panchayath CEO Shivashankar welcomed the guests and gathering. LATER Dr Heggade was felicitated with a shawl, peta and a memento.
