Mangaluru : The Mangaluru City Police will set up picket points at 45 spots in Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) limits in Karnataka to enforce night curfew as per the government order.
City police commissioner N Shashi Kumar said that checkpoints will also be opened in the city outskirts from 10pm on Saturday.
Each checkpoint will be manned by eight to 10 cops headed by an officer above the rank of PSI.
Though the BJP MLAs D Vedavyas Kamath and Dr Y Bharath Shetty from Mangaluru city have requested to exempt religious programmes including nema, kola, yakshagana and other rituals from the night curfew purview, the commissioner said the government order will be followed strictly.
