Belthangady : Image worship, spirit worship, and great devotion enable a person to receive divine grace and vision at times, such is the faith we cherish, said Jain Muni Lalitha Keerthi Bhattarka Swamiji of Karkala, who gave a benedictory address on the occasion of Dharmasthala Bahubali Idol’s 30th annual installation ceremony celebration when the great image (39 feet high) was washed at his (Bahubali) feet levels, by many devotes on Tuesday. (Feb.7).
The holy pot (Kalasha) water is poured on the feet of the image with a faith that gods reside in that pot, to do service to Jina.
The yellow colour is auspicious and turmeric (Powder/toothpaste/water) increases physical health in human beings, the Jain Muni elaborated.
A Senior writer from Delhi Akashavani (radio), new retired, M.K. Dharamrj shared his nostalgic recollections on late Manjayya Heggade, son late Ratnavarma Heggade, and his eldest son Dr.D. Veerendra Heggade as trustees and friends over several decades. There was bath to the Jina idol’s feet from 216 water pots ( Jala Kalabhisheka), and other ceremonies of worship with Mangalarathi towards the end.
Family members of Dr. Heggade were present, as also learned guests, during the entire programme.
