Mangalore: Western Range IGP Pratap Reddy has said that the timely decisions play a very important role in effective disaster management.

He was speaking after inaugurating a five day workshop on disaster management organized at the MCC meeting hall on November 5, Monday under the auspices of the district administration and National Disaster Management Institute, New Delhi. The workshop is meant for officials of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada  and Udupi districts.
Reddy further said disaster management has b become a challenge in Mangalore mainly because it is a major commercial hub as well as petro chemical zone.

Mayor Gulzar Banu presided over the function. Harish Kumar, MCC Commissioner, Dr Venkatesh, Assistant commissioner,  were also present. Rajesh Bhatia and Sudhir Rathod were the resource persons.
