Mangalore : Five interceptor boats were received by the Karnataka Coastal Security Police (CSP) to tighten the security along the coast. The boats are built by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL). The four boats weighed 12 tons, while one weighed 5 tons.
The Malpe base of the CSP now has a total of 10 interceptor boats.
IGP of Anti Terrorist Cell (ATC) Sanjay Vir Singh, handed over the boats to the CSP and said that the central and the state government have taken measures to tighten security along the 320km coastline of Karnataka.
At present, there are five CSP stations along the coast, and further plans to establish four more stations, he added.
The new stations will be ready by Dec 2010 in Hejamady, Honnavara and Ankola in Uttara Kannada, and Kundapura in Udupi, he added.
