Karwar : In a tragic incident reported from Belekeri Cross near here, a five year old boy identified as Srinivas lost his life when he was knocked down by a speeding tipper on NH 17, on November 6, Tuesday.

The accident took place when the boy was along with his mother to fetch water. Reports say the tipper  was trying to overtake a truck when it hit the boy.

The boy’s family hailed from Karnool in Andhra Pradesh and had arrived in Belekeri in search of work just a few days ago.

The tipper driver has fled the scene of the accident.
