Mangaluru: Mayor Kavita Sanil, met Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah at his residence in Bengaluru and requested him to release special grants of Rs 50 crore for undertaking various developmental projects in Mangaluru.
She drew his attention towards the shortage of staff in the Mangalore City Corporation office and urged for steps to fill in various vacancies in the MCC in order to ensure that developmental projects are not affected in any way.
Later, Kavita said that the chief minister positively responded to all her demands.
At present, 50 percent of posts in the city corporation are lying vacant. Every year, a number of employees retire. Since the last ten years, no new appointments have been made. Repeated demand to fill vacancies has fallen.
